Islamabad, March 31, 2016 (PPI-OT):The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) in collaboration with Mari Petroleum Company Limited (MPCL) conducted an awareness session for the employees of MPCL at its Head office in Islamabad. The said session is part of SECP’s investor education program launched under the brand name “Jamapunji”.
SECP officials steered a two hours of interactive session with MPCL employees. In the earlier part of the session the discussion focused on SECP’s role as the apex regulator of Non-Banking Financial sector and its vision for protection of investors. Subsequently, the detailed interactive discussion focused on the need for savings and investments, Capital Markets, its functioning, Mutual Funds, Voluntary Pension System and some Do’s and Don’ts for investors etc.
The participants were also informed about the salient features of Jamapunji web portal, SECP’s value added SMS services and Service desk facility. The seminar was attended by large number of employees including the senior management who keenly enquired about various aspects of Capital Markets, particularly Mutual Funds and Voluntary Pension Systems.
In his closing remarks, Mr. Assad Rabbni, Company Secretary of MPCL expressed his gratitude towards SECP for taking such an important initiative. He specifically highlighted the need for spreading financial literacy among the masses and particularly for the salaried class so that they will be able to plan a sound financial future. He also highlighted the need to have more activities of this nature in collaboration with SECP in near future.
