IOK photographer wins 3rd position in IRPC

Srinagar, January 19, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, a professional photographer, Maqsood Butt, has got third position in the “International Ramadan Photography Competition (IRPC)”.The award was given to Maqsood Butt for his photograph depicting three devout ladies in lively pink colours “capturing genuine piety and spirituality.”

He had taken the photograph of the three ladies seeking Allah’s forgiveness at Friday prayers at Dargah Hazratbal on the last Friday of Ramadan in 2013. After an extended three-phase judging process spearheaded by the International Ramadan Photography Competition founder and creative director, Dr Basel Almisshal, nine lucky winners across the three categories of Architecture, Spiritual and Culture had been chosen.

The annual competition saw over 3,000 submissions from over 60 countries and some of the world’s finest professional and amateur photographers all aiming to take part in this global effort to share beautiful and positive images of Islam around the world.

Winners from India, Indonesia, Kashmir, Kuwait, Lebanon, Palestine, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates were recognized for their most impressive photos taken during the holy month of Ramadan, 2013.

The competition organizers have congratulated Maqsood Bhat for his third place in the Spiritual Category.
