Islamabad, September 04, 2013 (PPI-OT): Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Chakwal Chamber of Commerce and Industry have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to work together for the establishment of an industrial estate in Chakwal and early completion of Neela Dullah Interchange.
The MoU signing ceremony was held at ICCI with Maj. (Retd) Tahir Iqbal, MNA as the Chief Guest. Zafar Bakhtawari, President ICCI and Sahibzada Abdul Qudoos, President Chakwal CCI signed the MoU. A large number of businessmen of Islamabad and Chakwal were present at the occasion.
Addressing the ceremony, Maj. (Retd) Tahir Iqbal, MNA assured his full support for industrial estate at Chakwal and Needdullah interchange project. He said the government is committed to make policies to recognize the positive role of businessmen in the development of national economy and to further facilitate the growth of trade and industry.
He said Chakwal is at No.2 in education in Pakistan and establishment of industrial zone in this area would provide educated manpower to industry. He said that ICCI should also take on board Attock and Jhelum Chambers of Commerce for this important project as industrial zone in Chakwal would be beneficial for these areas as well. He said the previous government of PML-N had planned four industrial zones on motorway including Chakwal region but international conspiracies thwarted its efforts.
In his welcome address, Zafar Bakhtawari said signing of MoU by Islamabad and Chakwal Chambers of Commerce and Industry for mutual cooperation would produce beneficial results for the businessmen of both regions. He hoped that Major (Retd) Tahir Iqbal would patronize the efforts of both Chambers to make Chakwal hub of industrial and economic activities.
He also gave three months notice to the Motorway authorities for completion of Needullah Interchange and threatened that if this project was not started by 5th Dec: 2013, business communities of Islamabad and Chakwal would block the motorway at Chakwal.
He said Nee Dullah provides cheapest land nearest to Islamabad for industrial estate and called upon the federal and Punjab government to expedite the work for industrial estate in that area. He was of the view that completion of industrial estate in Chakwal would bring an industrial revolution in this area.
Sahibzada Abdul Qudoos, President, Chakwal Chamber of Commerce and Industry termed the signing of MoU a historical development for Chakwal. He said implementation of MoU would start a new era of economic development in Chakwal and would boost business and industrial activities. He said Punjab Government has already done a survey at Needullah for industrial estate and Major (Retd) Tahir should play his role for early completion of this project.
Munawar Mughal former President ICCI and Qazi Akbar of Chakwal CCI also spoke on the occasion. Qazi Akbar said 60 mines in salt range at Chakwal have been cancelled while investment of billions of rupees was made in these projects. He demanded that government should reconsider this case to save the investors from huge losses.
