Islamabad police to give children confidence for social interaction: IGP

Islamabad, August 04, 2018 (PPI-OT): Islamabad Police will ensure every possible assistance to the parents for making their children socially confident and polish their mental and physical capabilities. It was stated by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Jan Muhammad while addressing the concluding ceremony of Summer Camp at Police Line Headquarters which was arranged for school children between age of 4-12 years. DIG (Security) Waqar Ahmed Chohan, DIG (Headquarters) Nasir Mehmood Satti, DIG (Operations) Faisal Ali Raja and other senior police officials were also present on the occasion.

The IGP Islamabad said the aim of holding such camp is to acquaint children in a professional manner about the environment outside the home and increase their confidence during social interaction. The other purpose, he said, are to bridge the police-public gap, strengthen the police community relations and also to acquaint the children with the police working.

Since 2002 the practice of arranging Summer Camp at Police Line Headquarters is underway with ever increasing number of participants every year. This year’s Summer Camp was 16th consecutive camp since 2002. Starting from 108 participants in 2002, the number of participants of Summer Camp has reached 493 this year which includes 346 boys and 147 girls.

During the Summer Camp, children are taught swimming, horse riding martial arts, gymnastics, archery and obstacles. Moreover, they are trained in self-defense, First Aid and Traffic awareness. Specialized instructors are deputed to impart skills as well as discipline among the participants of Summer Camp. Sports, movies, indoor fun activities and outdoor visits are also arranged for the children while they are regularly served with refreshments.

The IGP said that Police considering to introduce scouts/lady trainer in future in Summer Camp. He also appreciated the assistance extended by ICITAP in making this Summer Camp a success. Islamabad Police Chief thanked all the participants and said that feedback would be welcomed to improve the future Summer Camps. The participants thanked Islamabad police and chanted slogans – Pakistan Zindabad, Islamabad Police Zindabad.
