Islamabad, February 11, 2014 (PPI-OT): Furthering economic cooperation with Pakistan, the Government of Japan has extended a grant of Yen 808 million to the Government of Pakistan for the project, “Upgrading Primary Girls Schools into Elementary Schools in Southern Rural Sindh”. The official note for the grant was exchanged today at the Economic Affairs Division.
Ms. Nargis Sethi, Secretary Economic Affairs Division and H.E. Mr. Hiroshi Inomata, the Ambassador of Japan signed the Exchange of Notes on behalf of their Governments.
The grant will be utilized for Upgrading Primary Girls Schools into Elementary Schools in Southern Rural Sindh. The Japanese grant is focused on community empowerment through education and literacy in the marginalized and unprivileged rural area of Sindh. It will also fill the gender gap by providing state of the art educational facilities.
The Secretary Economic Affairs Division while appreciating the Japanese support expressed the Government’s commitment to further strengthen development cooperation between the two countries.
