Japan extends yen 800 million for procuring Japanese Small and Medium Enterprises products and medical Equipment

Islamabad, April 30, 2013 (PPI-OT): Furthering development cooperation with Pakistan, the Government of Japan has extended two Non-Project Grant Aids (NPGAs) to the Government of Pakistan. The official ceremony for Exchange of Notes took place today, April 30, 2013, in the Economic Affairs Division. Muhammad Shahzad Arbab, Secretary Economic Affairs Division and Hiroshi Oe, the Ambassador of Japan signed the Notes on behalf of their respective Governments.

The first NPGA, worth Yen 200 million, would facilitate the Capital Development Authority and the Water and Sanitation Agencies of Lahore and Faisalabad in procuring Japanese Small and Medium Enterprises products.

The second NPGA, worth ¥ 600 million, would provide federal and provincial hospitals the facility to procure medical equipment from Japan. Provision of Japanese products, known for their high quality and superior technology, would enhance the capacities of government entities in the areas of health, water and sanitation and therefore contribute significantly towards improved service delivery for public good.
