Karachi, October 06, 2012 (PPI-OT): Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan has said that like the other metropolitan cities in the world, Karachi is also being equipped with latest facilities.
He was speaking as chief guest at the launching of “KMC’s Information on Mobile Phones” under the Rising Karachi Project held at the Governor House here on Friday evening.
The system is being introduced by the KMC for provision of information to the Karachiites through mobile phones.
The administrator Karachi and the head of the organisation that prepared the software also addressed the gathering. The governor said that Karachi is playing a vital role towards national industrial and economic development. He stated that measures were being taken to provide this metropolis with latest facilities.
Dr Ebad said that the chief of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement Altaf Hussain had drew the attention of President Asif Ali Zardari regarding some impediments about development projects in the city and their prompt redressal and the President played an important role for addressing the same. Prime Minister and Chief Minister Sindh also evinced keen interest in this respect.
He said that innumerable development projects were continuing in Karachi and other parts of the province and they were aimed at the progress of Sindh which would benefit the people all over the country also.
The governor said that owing to special interest of President Asif Ali Zardari, the Lyari Expressway project had started. He stated that 11 flyovers and other projects in the city would complete soon.
He said that under the policy of reconciliation and positive thinking, steps were being taken for the progress and betterment of the province.
He stated that the `Rising Karachi Project’ would prove to be beneficial for the dwellers of the metropolis.
Provincial ministers Sharjeel Inam Memon, Dr Sagheer Ahmed, Commissioner Karachi and Secretary to the Governor Dr Naushad Shaikh were also present on the occasion.
