Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry welcomes Federal Board of Revenue’s decision to extend last date for filing income tax returns

Karachi, October 31, 2014 (PPI-OT): President of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Iftikhar Ahmed Vohra has appreciated the authorities in Federal Board of Revenue for accepting KCCI’s demand to extend last date for filing income tax return.

In a statement issued, Iftikhar Vohra said that the taxpayers were facing immense hardships and were unable to timely submit their Returns due to various technical issues in the online system for filing income tax returns but thanks to the timely intervention of Karachi Chamber along with FBR’s consideration to this pressing issue, the last date for filing income tax returns has now been extended up to November 21, 2014.

Iftikhar Vohra further advised the FBR to immediately improve the performance and capacity of IRIS system so that the taxpayers could timely file their income tax returns without any hassle. “The extension announced by FBR for filing income tax returns would prove to be futile if the IRIS system continues to give errors and fails to operate smoothly”, he said, adding that FBR must seriously review the overall situation and take remedial steps to avoid malfunctioning of IRIS system.
