Karachi Metropolitan Commissioner addresses meeting on Emergency Medical Services at Hawks Bay Rescue Centre

Karachi, June 22, 2013 (PPI-OT): KMC Metropolitan Commissioner Matanat Ali Khan has appealed citizens to cooperate with lifeguards deployed on all sea sides including Hawks Bay, Sandspit, Mubarak Village, Paradise Point and Cap Mount and follow their instructions to curb fatal incidents. He said this during a review meeting held on emergency medical services at Hawks bay Rescue Centre.

On this occasion Sr. Director Municipal Services, Chief Fire Officer Ehtisham-ud-Din and Station Officer Emergency Response Centre Hawks Bay Muhammad Mairaj Khan were present. Matanat Ali Khan strictly disagreed with the news published in some news papers that there were no Oxygen Cylinders available at Rescue Centre.

He said that there were a large number of oxygen cylinders along with emergency medical medicines available at Rescue Centre. He said that doctors along with paramedical staff should also be deployed at Hawks Bay Rescue Centre and staff on 10 watch towers at Hawks Bay and other sea sides keep warning citizens for avoid bath in the sea.

Citizens should follow their instructions so that they could be safe from tidal waves of the sea. Matanat Ali Khan said that support of DC West and District Administration would be taken if required. Section 144 has also been imposed by District Administration therefore citizens should avoid bath in the sea.

There was about 18km coastal area under the arrangements of KMC in which 25 locations were dangerous. Matanat Ali Khan said that 25 sign boards having instructions on them would be installed immediately.

He said that above 100 citizens were saved from drowning. Lifeguards would be provided with more training. More lifeguards would be deployed at Rescue Centre. Citizens have been appealed that they should avoid bath in the sea and follow instructions of lifeguards to save themselves.
