Karachi Metropolitan Corporation Administrator directs Project Director Mehmood A. Haroon Bridge to expedite development work

Karachi, June 01, 2013 (PPI-OT): KMC Administrator Syed Hashim Raza Zaidi has directed the Project Director of Mehmood A. Haroon Bridge near Jinnah Terminal on Sharea Faisal to expedite development works of roads and u turns beneath the bridge.

On a visit to the bridge which was recently inaugurated by Governor of Sindh Dr. Ishrat-ul- Ebad Khan along with the D.G Technical Services and other concerned officers he inspected the remaining development works beneath the bridge and observed that it was essential to finish this work also to ensure maximum convenience to citizens using this very important corridor of the city.

He said this bridge was constructed to remove another signal from the Sharea Faisal to make it a signal free corridor. Previously this had been a chocking point for traffic passing through this junction of Sharea Faisal but now the traffic going to and from Airport to Jinnah Hospital has signal free journey.

The two u turns which were given with this bridge were aimed at facilitating the traffic. Administrator Karachi said efforts were on to complete the other development projects also including four flyovers on various intersections of Shara-e-Pakistan.

He said the city’s basic infrastructure has to be maintained and improved for ensuring more convenience to citizens. The construction and repairing work of all main roads will continue for which KMC has already prepared a comprehensive plan.
