Karachi Metropolitan Corporation Administrator visit Hill Park and Polo Ground

Karachi, August 12, 2013 (PPI-OT): KMC Administrator Saqib Soomro has said that construction works including renovation and reconstruction of Bano Garden along with new fountain in Hill Park were being carried out with a cost of Rs100million. View Point located at height of the park was also being reconstructed for fascinating view of the city whereas construction works of Gulshan-e-Jinnah (Polo Ground) being carried out with a cost of Rs170million was also in final stage.

He said this during a visit to Hill Park and Polo Ground and reviewed construction works where he was accompanied by Director General Parks Abdullah Mushtaq, Director General Technical Services Niaz Ahmed Soomro, Project Directors and other concerned officers.

He said this was considered in construction of parks that citizens would have better and latest recreation facilities.

Administrator Karachi said that KMC was in an effort to provide citizens with splendid recreation facilities along with completion of undergoing projects in the city and construction of Hill Park with modern facilities would provide citizens with better recreation facilities.

He said this park has significant status due to its height and has lost its attraction due to constant use and lack of development works which was now being constructed according to current requirements and modern style.

He said that construction of new gardens in Hill Park would reduce environmental pollution as well as provide citizens with opportunity to have fascination moments with their families in fresh environment.

On this occasion Administrator Karachi was informed that along with construction and repairing of grill around the lake located in Hill Park garden with beautiful trees and plants was also being constructed.

Hill Park due to its height was marvellous and favourite place of citizens and a big number of families visit the park especially on holidays. 186 lighting bulbs were also being installed in Hill Park.

Administrator Karachi while expressing his keen interest in construction works being carried out in Hill Park and Polo Ground directed to complete construction works as soon as possible.

Earlier Director General Parks informed Administrator Karachi in his office about details of works of his department, undergoing projects, various parks, resources and problems.

He informed that Hill Park was constructed by KDA in 1971 and handed over to KMC and since then KMC has been taking care of the park.

Administrator Karachi during a visit to Polo Ground said this place as centre picnic point of the city has significant status therefore quality standard of material should be considered in construction and all possible efforts should be made to develop this park not only as a park but also identity of Karachi and an important centre according to cultural point of view.

He said this park being reconstructed on 20 acre land. The historical importance of this place was considered in designing of the park and a central door having historical importance was also being constructed which was compatible with architecture of Pakistan and neighbouring country China and external walls were also being constructed with the same design.

The other facilities being provided in park include fascinating stone canopies, stone benches, corridors, wide lawns, lighting tower, car parking, jogging track, green fields with flowers and play area for children whereas place of historical Eidgah in this park has also been improved and widened.

Modern water irrigation system was supplied in this park and special arrangements for car parking have been made which was a good facility for people visiting the park.
