Karachi: Administrator KMC Muhammad Hussain Syed has said that rehabilitation and improvement work of Shara-e-Quaideen and Mehran Highway was started during which both tracks of the Shara-e-Quaideen will be made wide and signal free while the development work at Mehran Highway under commitment with the Government of Japan will be done by 15th March.
This he said during a detailed visit of Shara-e-Quaideen along with the Director General Technical Services Altaf G. Memon, Chief Engineer Mahmood Hussain and other high officials. On this occasion while giving directive to concerned chief engineer he said that Shara-e-Quaideen being one of the busiest corridors in the city and its development work should therefore be completed as soon as possible.
He said that this road will be made beautiful and signal free with the addition of 36 feet wide tracks on both sides while the existing tracks of the road would also be widened further. Administrator Karachi said with the completion of construction work on Shara-e-Quaideen not only the traffic flow near Khudadad Colony, Noorani Kabab Chowrangi and Allahwala Chowrangi will be improved but the traffic jam problem will also be solved.
He said that KMC had also started improvement of Mehran Highway from Hospital Chowrangi to Labour Squire for which the traffic on this road was being diverted to alternate route with the cooperation of traffic police. He said the project had been undertaken in accordance with the commitment with the Government of Japan through Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the development work will be completed by 15th March 2012.
