Karachi, February 10, 2014 (PPI-OT): Full fledged operation against encroachments was carried out on New Truck Stand Mauripur and hundreds of shops, patharas and other illegal goods were removed with the help of cranes and heavy machinery and 90 percent of truck stand was restored in its actual condition.
On this occasion KMC staff, District Administration and Police took action in this operation against encroachments under the supervision of Chairman Task Force Anti-Encroachment Bilal Manzar.
According to details operation against encroachments on various locations of the city was underway on the directives of Administrator Karachi Rauf Akhtar Farooqui.
Keeping in view the old demand of Maripur Truck Stand Union, this operation was carried out to reinstate Maripur Truck Stand in its actual condition.
On this occasion the President of Maripur Truck Stand Khalid Khan, Additional Director Shakir Ali, Focal Person East Irfan Zai, Wajid Kamran Abbas of District West and District South staff were also present.
This action was taken on the directives of Administrator Karachi Rauf Akhtar Farooqui in which every type of encroachments were said to be removed so that this truck stand could be reinstated in its actual condition.
Meanwhile Administrator Karachi directed Anti-Encroachment Squad that comprehensive action against encroachments should be taken in all areas of Karachi and KMC Police Station after revival should be included with operation team so that miscreants could be handled effectively.
He said that action against encroachments was for betterment of the city. Civil society and Police should also perform their responsibilities in this regard and such people should be discouraged who want to establish encroachments.
He said that actions were being taken against encroachments in various areas including F.B. Area, PECHS, Soldier Bazaar, Aladin Park, PIB Colony and Muhammad Ali Housing Society whereas this operation would be expanded in all areas of Karachi gradually.
He said that it was an old demand of the citizens that encroachments should be removed from the city. He also directed to take action against those shopkeepers who keep their goods in front of markets, bazaars and big shopping centres so that citizens could be prevented from difficulties. After the removal of encroachments, better image of the city would emerge, roads would be widened and pedestrians would also be able to walk on footpaths instead of roads.
Administrator Karachi said that city would be seen very different in a few days. Karachi is a big city and KMC was playing its vital role in order to prevent the city form encroachments. KMC has commenced the non-stop campaign for removal of encroachments in the city.
