Doha: An event in Doha brought together numerous members of the Kashmiri community to focus on the ongoing situation in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir, the Modi government’s agenda, and collective responsibilities towards the Kashmir cause.
According to a statement by Kashmir Media Service, the event was hosted by Raja Abid Yusuf, where speakers emphasized the necessity of overcoming organizational affiliations to unite for the single-point agenda of Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.
Abdul Rashid Turabi, former Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Azad Jammu and Kashmir, served as the chief guest. He commended Qatar’s role in supporting the Palestinian cause and its consistent backing of the Kashmir issue. He also noted the humanitarian efforts of Qatar Charity in rehabilitating victims of earthquakes.
Turabi acknowledged the role of Al Jazeera Network in amplifying the voices of oppressed people in Palestine, Kashmir, and beyond, urging other Muslim nations to emulate Qatar’s example.
A detailed question and answer session reiterated that despite India’s repression, Kashmiris remain firm in their struggle. The speakers underscored the importance of representing the incarcerated Hurriyat leadership and ensuring the base camp of the freedom movement plays its rightful role.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks to the host and prayers for Shaheed Maqbool Butt and all Kashmiri martyrs.
