Kashmiri martyrs’ mission to continue till success

Srinagar, January 19, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference leaders including Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Nayeem Ahmed Khan and Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, have reaffirmed the Kashmiris’ resolve to continue the mission of Kashmiri martyrs till complete success.

The APHC leaders in a statement issued after a meeting in Srinagar, today, paid glowing tributes to over fifty Kashmiris who were killed after Indian troops had resorted to indiscriminate firing on a peaceful demonstration at Gaw Kadal in Srinagar on January 21 in 1990. They said that the Kashmiri martyrs’ sacrifices, which had centre-staged the Kashmir dispute at the global level, would not be allowed to go waste. They expressed satisfaction that despite Indian oppression, the people of Kashmir were carrying on their liberation struggle and were determined to take it to its logical conclusion at all costs. The meeting was also attended by Shabbir Ahmed Dar, Muhammad Iqbal Mir and Muhammad Yasin Attai.The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Mohammad Yasin Malik, in a statement in Srinagar described Gaw Kadal incident as one of the worst massacres in the history of Kashmir. He said that through such brutal tactics India could not subdue the Kashmiris’ liberation sentiment.

The General Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Political Movement, Muhammad Shafi Reshi, addressing a party meeting in Srinagar also paid glowing tributes to the Gaw Kadal martyrs.

On the other hand, the veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, has donated his entire immovable property to an autonomous and independent Trust. He announced this in a meeting of his party, Tehreek-e-Hurriyet Jammu and Kashmir, at his residence in Srinagar. The property includes the residence of the veteran leader, Tehreek-e-Hurriyet head office building and Millat Publications.

Meanwhile, an Indian trooper committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle at District Police Lines, Kupwara, during rehearsal parade of India’s Republic Day to be celebrated on January 26. This incident raised the number of such deaths amongst the Indian troops and police personnel to 298 since January 2007. Bodies of two persons were recovered from Islamabad and Srinagar areas.
