Srinagar, January 16, 2013 (PPI-OT): Around 150 Kashmiri students had to flee from their college campus at Nagpur, Maharashtra in India after a local gangster along with his aides raided their campus and threatened to kill them if they did not return to the Valley.
Kashmiri students are now hiding in a remote area of Indian state Maharashtra and are even afraid to call the police as they believe they will not be supported by the Indian security agencies. “We are scared and are in hiding. Nobody is helping us,” said a Kashmiri student, adding that the gangster beat them (students) ruthlessly.
The students are doing their bachelors program in physiotherapy from an Indian local college known as Late Vastenrao College, Nagpur. “We just received one of our friend who was stuck there. He was ruthlessly beaten by these people,” said the student. Students said that a local gangster has repeatedly threatened them in past, but on Tuesday evening came with his aides, other locals and ran after the Kashmiri students.
