Kuala Lumpur set to host Sindh Mango Festival

Islamabad, June 21, 2013 (PPI-OT): The residents in the Malaysian capital are set to tickle their palates with the rich taste and succulence of the Sindh mangoes to star at a mango festival being arranged by the Sindh Board of Investment (SBI) in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday, says a press release received here today from Malaysia.

The festival is likely to be attended by a large number of visitors and representatives of upscale food outlets and hyper market as well as members of the diplomatic corps, trade bodies and business concerns dealing in the food sector.

Besides various popular mangoes such as Sindhri, Began Pali, Chaunsa, Langra, Anwar Retaul, Saroli, Dasehri and Sunehra grown in the southern province of Sindh, the festival would also feature display of a wide spread of mango delicacies, including mango ice cream, mango soufflé, mango mousse, mango trifle, mango tart, mango pudding, fresh fruit platter and mango cake.

A seven-member delegation led by Sindh Board of Investment (SBI) Mr. Muhammad Zubair Motiwala and accompanied by leading mango exporters in the private sector is also visiting Kuala Lumpur to attend the festival and meet important stakeholders to explore avenues for synergistic cooperation at the halal sector, special economic zones, urban development and infrastructure, agriculture, livestock and food value-addition and energy.

Speaking about the mango festival and the visit of the SBI delegation to Kuala Lumpur, Pakistan High Commissioner to Kuala Lumpur Mr. Shahid Kiani said the mango festival was a welcome event which would help trigger a greater demand for the Pakistani mangoes already gaining popularity locally because of their fine quality and superior taste.

“I hope the mango festival will help us promote mangoes export, enhance market share and develop vital linkages with importers and retailers to attain volume and bulk quantity orders from them,” he said.

Mr. Kiani said the Pakistan High Commission had in consultation with the SBI also arranged a roundtable conference on the sidelines of the mango festival to highlight business and investment opportunities in the Sindh province and elsewhere in Pakistan. Some 30 entrepreneurs and captains of various industries in Malaysia would attend the roundtable to deliberate upon measures to enhance collaboration in various sectors.

Besides the roundtable, the SBI delegation would also use the visit to launch mangoes at various outlets of the Malaysian hyper market besides visiting the Halal Hub Zone in Pulau Indah in the Klang region for networking and business matchmakings.
