Islamabad: Investigation Wing of Islamabad Police handed over Rs. 32,67,000 to National Bank of Pakistan branch in Rawat following the orders of the court after recovering it from the accused who took away the cash and assassinated the guard.
According to details, some unidentified persons looted Rs. 32,67,000 from NBP bank in Rawat after butchering its guard Muhammad Rafique and case was registered under section 396 PPC on February 13, 2005 in Sihala police station.
The case was assigned to Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) of Islamabad police for speedy investigation and the accused were traced. The accused identified as Raja Tahir, Muhammad Rafique had to face trial and were given sentence by the court. As per order of the court, police handed over the recovered money to Manager NBP Rawat.
Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Inspector General of Police Bani Amin Khan also highlighted the performance of CIA staff and told that four gangs involved in crime of heinous nature and minting money after exposing themselves as Managing Director of various mobile companies on the pretext of giving the people prize money through getting easy load were busted.
SSP Islamabad Muhammad Yousuf Malik, SP (Rrual) Faisal Bashir Memon, SP (Investigation) Ch. Liaqat Ali, ASP Mustansar Feeroz and other police officials were also present on the occasion.
The IGP said that SSP Islamabad Muhammad Yousuf Malik was directed by him to trace out the criminals involved in crimes of heinous nature, car theft who under the supervision of SP (Investigation) Ch. Liaqat Ali, In-Charge CIA Bashir Ahmed Noon and In-Charge Anti-Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) constituted special teams.
He said that that 11 criminals of four gangs were arrested by CIA teams for their alleged involvement in dacoities as well as fraudulent activities while cash and other looted items were also recovered from these gangsters.
The nabbed criminals of these gangs have been identified as Waseem Abbass, Muhammad Sohail, Muhammad Kashif, Muhammad Ismail, Muhammad Shakeel, Muhammad Munir, Syed Asad Hussain Shah, Abdul Qadir, Abdul Aziz, Muhammad Ashraf . Four cheaters exposing themselves as fake MDs of mobile companies were identified as Abdul Jabber, Abdul Qadir, Abdul Aziz and Ashraf residents of Khushab.
The twelve car thieves arrested by the teams of ACLC during this month were identified as Faiz Muhammad, Zaze alias Dilawar, Abdullah, Arif, Khalid Khan, Said Wali, Rana Aamir Gulzar, Abdul Qadoos, Waqas Zaheer, Gul Khitab, Yousuf Zeeshan, Abdul Sattar. Fifteen cars bearing the registration numbers as follows were recovered from them:. Corolla (RLC-847), Corolla (HX-614), Honda Civic (RLB-7171), Santor (HD-436), Land Cruiser (DMRA-57), Honda Civic (LWP-2531), Mehran (IDL-6924), Suzuki FX (AJKB-3773), Mehran (RLC-1813), Corolla (SS-697), Mehran (MNO-8484), Corolla (LEB-3010), Suzuki FX (IDA-2578), Pajero (PRL-8198), Corolla (PS-635), Mehran (FDO-5400).
The IGP told that CIA staff traced 312 cases successfully in the current year besides busting 24 gangs and arrested 533 accused. A total of Rs. 4,28,53,400 were also recovered from these accused.
Similarly, CIA police recovered seven Kalashnikovs, six repeater guns, 62 pistols, 5423 rounds, 2133 wine bottles, 21 kilogram hashish, three kilogram heroin from various nabbed accused during current year.
During the year 2011, ACLC busted 17 gangs and arrested 91 car thieves besides ensuring arrests of several stolen car receivers from Khyber Pakhtoon khwa while 79 stolen vehicles were also recovered from them.
The IGP said that Islamabad police is committed to ensure protection to the lives and property of the citizens and it’s very wing is making utmost effort to accomplish this task.
Later, the IGP also handed over the keys of vehicles and cash to their actual owners.
Talking to media men, the IGP appreciated the efforts of Islamabad police in the ongoing year by saying that no terror incident has occurred owing efficient policing and crime rate has decreased significantly in all heads. “The major challenges before police were terrorism activities, car theft and dacoities but efficient policing has helped us to overcome all of them during this year,” the IGP maintained.
He said that police have also recovered the vehicle of Dr. Rakhshanda which was snatched from his son during his kidnap few year ago. Her son was earlier recovered after police encounter and one of the kidnapper was killed besides arrest of his other accomplices.
The IGP also announced cash prizes and commendation certificates for the policemen who ensured arrest of car thieves and other criminals.
