Lt. Col. among 11 Indian troops, cops killed in IOK

Srinagar, September 26, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, at least 11 Indian troops and police personnel including a Lt. Colonel were killed and over a dozen injured when an Indian army camp and a police station in Kathua district were attacked, today.

The attackers dressed in Indian army uniform barged into the Indian Army camp and a nearby police station at Hiranagar in the district and killed at least 7 Indian troopers including the Lt. Colonel and four police personnel.

Three civilians were martyred in the firing by troops on the occasion. Kathua-Jammu highway was immediately closed, while the encounter is going on till last reports came in. In another incident, Indian troops during violent military operations martyred at least 12 Kashmiris including a 65-year-old civilian in Kupwara. A police constable was killed in an attack at Naina-Batapura in Pulwama district.

The veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani reacting to former Army Chief General VK Singh’s confession in a statement said that all pro-India Kashmiri politicians, right from Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah to Omar Abdullah, had been receiving funds from Indian army for their covert services to quell aspirations of the Kashmiris. General VK Singh had stated that the puppet ministers had been on Indian army’s payroll since 1947.

Hurriyet leaders, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, Zafar Akbar Butt, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani and Jamaat-e-Islami in their statements urged India to come out of fancies and resolve the Kashmir dispute as per Kashmiris’ aspirations.

Indian police arrested prominent religious scholar, Qazi Yasir Ahmad in Islamabad town when he was on his way to Shopian to express solidarity with the victims of Indian state terrorism.

In New York, Kashmiri representative, Ishtiyaq Hameed, addressing the meeting of OIC contact group on Jammu and Kashmir urged international community to impress upon India to stop state terrorism in occupied Kashmir and facilitate a durable solution to the Kashmir dispute.
