Srinagar, June 30, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the authorities have taken the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, into custody and placed APHC leaders including Shabbir Ahmed Shah and Nayeem Ahmed Khan under house arrest, today. The action has been taken to prevent the leaders from going to Sumbal area of Bandipora to attend the funeral of two civilians, who were killed by Indian troops, early this morning.
Indian police arrested liberation leaders, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Javed Ahmed Mir and Showkat Ahmed Bakhshi from near Malora when they were on their way to Sumbal and shifted them to Kothi Bagh Police Station.
The puppet authorities put Shabbir Shah and Nayeem Khan under house arrest in Srinagar by deploying heavy contingents of police personnel outside their residences. The veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, is already under house detention.
The police also arrested the member of the so-called Kashmir Assembly, Engineer Abdur Rasheed, near Watlab when he was going to Sumbal lodging him at Handwara Police Station.
The Indian police intercepted a delegation of Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Political Movement comprising party Chairman, Firdous Ahmed Shah, Muhammad Shafi Reshi and other leaders at Shallatang and didn’t allow them to proceed to Sumbal. However, another delegation of the party managed to reach Sumbal and attended the funeral of the martyred youth.
Meanwhile, Syed Ali Gilani, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Shabbir Ahmad Shah and Nayeem Ahmad Khan have called for complete shutdown in the occupied territory tomorrow, against the killings.
The two civilians, Irfan Ahmad Ganai and Irshad Ahmad Dar, were killed by the troops in Markandey area of Sumbal. The killings have triggered massive demonstrations in the area.
APHC leaders, Yasmeen Raja and Mukhtar Ahmed Waza, in their statements strongly denounced the killing of innocent civilians terming it a barbaric and cowardly act on part of the troops. Paying glowing tributes to Irfan Ahmad and Irshad Ahmad saying that killing innocent people under the grab of black laws like Armed Force Special Powers Act was the worst kind of human rights violations.
Expressing solidarity with the bereaved families, they maintained that the sacrifices of Kashmiri martyrs would not be allowed to go waste and their mission would be accomplished at all costs.
