Islamabad, June 09, 2013 (PPI-OT): I am pleased to learn that Pakistan National Accreditation Council (PNAC) is celebrating World Accreditation Day along with other member states of International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and International Lab Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC). On this occasion I wish to congratulate the PNAC for raising awareness about the importance of accreditation and also for providing accreditation services to testing and inspection bodies and medical laboratories.
The theme for this year, “Accreditation: Facilitating world trade” is of special significance to Pakistan which has been seeking ‘trade, not aid’ to address its economic ills. This requires that our products meet the standards set by an internationally recognized system of accreditation so as to successfully compete in the global trade market.
Endorsement of products and services by a credible and recognized system of accreditation ensures consumers’ right protection and also saves the manufacturer from the wastage associated with multiple tests. I therefore urge the entrepreneurs to utilize the internationally recognized accreditation services of PNAC for accreditation of their products to provide high quality products and services to the consumers and also avoid the wasteful multiple tests.
I also call upon PNAC to continue its efforts to attain greater sophistication as to become the leading accreditation body of the region.
Once again, I congratulate PNAC for observing this day to help raise awareness among the business community about the importance of accreditation in promoting their businesses both in the domestic and in the international trade market.
