Mirwaiz terms Afzal Guru’s execution murder of justice

Srinagar, February 15, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has termed the execution of Kashmiri youth, Muhammad Afzal Guru, by India as murder of justice. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq along with other APHC leaders visited Doabgah area of Sopore and expressed solidarity with the family of Muhammad Afzal Guru on his first martyrdom anniversary. He said that hanging of Muhammad Afzal Guru was a great tragedy for all the Kashmiris.

He said that the execution, which had exposed the so-called Indian democracy, would remain a source of inspiration for the Kashmiri people in their just liberation struggle. The Mirwaiz was accompanied by other Hurriyet leaders including Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi, Bilal Ghani Lone, Muhammad Musaddiq Aadil, Javed Ahmed Mir, Syed Bashir Andrabi, Ghulam Nabi Zaki, Hilal Ahmed War and Hakeem Abdur Rasheed.

The veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, in a statement issued in Srinagar castigated the authorities of New Delhi’s Tihar for not allowing the family members of Kashmiri detainee, Javed Ahmed Khan, to meet him. Javed Ahmed Khan is lodged in the jail for the past over 19 years. Syed Ali Gilani appealed to the international human rights organizations to take cognizance of the inhuman treatment meted out to the illegally detained Kashmiris in jails.

On the other hand, life remained crippled in Shopian town on the second consecutive day, today, due to strike against the recent killing of two youth by Indian troops. APHC leader, Zafar Akbar Butt, visited Shopian and paid glowing tributes to the martyred youth.

Hurriyet leaders including Javed Ahmed Mir, Syed Bashir Andrabi, Ghulam Nabi Zaki, Hakeem Abdur Rasheed and Imtiyaz Ahmed Reshi speaking at a function held in connection with the martyrdom anniversary of Ghulam Muhammad Bullah in Sopore, today, said that sacrifices of Kashmiri martyrs would not be allowed to go waste. The puppet authorities placed APHC leader, Mukhtar Ahmed Waza, under house arrest in Islamabad and did not allow him to attend the function.

A delegation of a human rights forum in occupied Kashmir, Voice of Victims, headed by its Executive Director, Abdul Qadeer Dar, met several rights and social activists in Indian state of Maharashtra and apprised them of the human rights abuses by Indian troops in the occupied territory.

In Washington, speakers at a seminar stressed the need to include the Kashmiris in the dialogue process between Pakistan and India to resolve the Kashmir dispute. They said that permanent peace in South Asia was not possible without settling the dispute in accordance with the Kashmiris’ aspirations. The speakers included Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai, Dr Ghulam Nabi Mir, Sardar Sawar Khan, Asad Chaudhary, Mazhar Chughtai and Member Norwegian Parliament, Lars Rise.
