Mirwaiz urges India to take steps for Kashmir settlement

Srinagar, August 03 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has said that India should learn lessons from dialogue process between Taliban and America and take concrete steps to resolve the Kashmir dispute.

The APHC Chairman addressing a gathering in Srinagar said, international scenario is changing and time has gone when issues would be solved through intimidation and oppression. “America and other NATO countries are forced to talk to Talban for the resolution of Afghanistan issue. Along with its troops’ withdrawal, the US is also holding track-2 diplomacy with Taliban to solve the Afghan imbroglio. India should follow the suit, shun its militaristic approach, and learn lessons from the shaping and reshaping of the world order,” he said.

The Mirwaiz said that Israel and Palestine had also resumed dialogue process, which was brokered by America and the Arab countries. “Time has come for India to engage seriously with Pakistan and Kashmiris for resolution of the Kashmir dispute. America has accepted the truth and India will also have to do it sooner or later,” he added.

He said that power and oppression would never prove a solution to the political problem of Kashmir. “India might be a strong military power but they can’t keep Kashmir anymore at gun point,” he maintained.

Asserting that the Kashmiris were the owners of their destiny, he said that the APHC would provide cooperation in the dialogue process between Pakistan and India. However, he stated that any dialogue process without involvement of the Kashmiri people was unacceptable. He said that the Kashmiri people would continue their peaceful struggle till complete success.

Taking a dig at the pro-India parties, the Mirwaiz said that they were indulging in opportunistic politics and asked them to join Hurriyet camp to prove their sincerity towards the Kashmir dispute.

Maintaining that elections cannot be an alternative to the Kashmir issue, he said, “Some people claim that they will solve Kashmir issue but there claims should not be believed. They are just befooling people for power politics. Elections can have some meaning only after resolution on Kashmir, not before that. They try to divert the attention from the real issue of Kashmir.” The APHC Chairman demanded that Masjid Aqsa (Qubla Awal) should be handed over to Muslims.
