Karachi: The two partners in the PPP-led coalition government Muttahida Qaumi Movement and the Awami National Party on Tuesday condemned the renewed wave of killings in the city and agreed to work together to prevent such incidents and weed out criminals who were causing a breakdown of law and order.
The meeting was organised by Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan after a new spate of blood-letting that claimed many lives in two days of violence.
A three-member MQM delegation in the talks was led by Raza Haroon while the ANP delegation was led by its provincial chief Shahi Syed.
The two sides agreed that those involved in the killings had no political support. They also agreed to constitute neighbourhood committees to keep an eye on such elements and frustrate their designs.
