National Assembly Standing Committee on Standing Committee on Religious Affairs and Inter-Faith Harmony meets

Islamabad, September 06, 2019 (PPI-OT): Report on arrangements of Hajj 2019 be submitted by September 16. These directions have been issued by Standing Committee of the National Assembly of Pakistan on Religious Affairs and Inter-Faith Harmony in its meeting held in Parliament House, Islamabad. It was informed to the Committee that there were 47 Makatib in the Mina, who served the Pakistani pilgrims. The pilgrims made complaints against 19 Makatib. Moreover, there were very serious complaints against six Makatib. So, the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Inter-Faith Harmony had taken up the issue with Saudi authorities who promised to take strict action, including cancellation of the licenses, against those six Makatib.

The Saudi authorities have suspended the licenses of two of the Makatib. The Standing Committee was informed that overall the Hajj arrangements, during the present Hajj, were satisfactory. Especially, the facilities like Road to Mecca and E-Visa have been provided to Pakistani pilgrims, under the leadership of Prime Minister, Imran Khan, for the first time in the history of Pakistan. The Standing Committee acknowledged the efforts of the Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Inter-Faith Harmony, Dr. Noor-ul-Haq Qadri.

MNA from treasury benches, Raja Riaz Ahmed called the attention of the Committee towards the appeal of Prime Minister Imran Khan for solidarity of Kashmir and that of the Heroes of the Nation. The Standing Committee on Religious Affairs and Inter-Faith Harmony showed its complete solidarity with the Freedom Movement of Kashmir and the heroes of the nation who were martyred for the noble cause of Islam and Pakistan. So, the Standing Committee ended its meeting exactly at 03:00 p.m.

The meeting was presided over by the Chairman Standing Committee of National Assembly on Religious Affairs and Inter-Faith Harmony, Mr. Asad Mehmood and attended by Members National Assembly; Mr. Saleem Rehman, Sahibzada Sibghatullah, Mr. Muhammad Bashir Khan, Prince Muhammad Nawaz Allai, Mr. Mujahid Ali, Mr. Mohammad Iqbal Khan, Raja Riaz Ahmad, Ms. Saira Bano, Ms. Shunila Ruth, Choudhary Faqir Ahmed, Begum Tahira Bokhari, Mr. Kesoo Mal Kheeal Das, Mahar Irshad Ahmad Khan, Pir Syed Fazal Ali Shah Jillani, Ms. Shagufta Jumani, Ms. Shahida Akhtar Ali, Mr. Naveed Amir Jeeva, Mover and Dr. Ramesh Kumar Vankwani, Mover. Mr. Noor-ul-Haq Qadri, Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Inter-Faith Harmony also attended in the meeting. Secretary, Ministry of Religious Affairs and Inter-Faith Harmony, Joint Secretaries and many other senior officers attended the meeting.
