New industrial estate should be established at Chakwal motorway: Khokhar

Islamabad, October 31, 2012 (PPI-OT): Haji Muhammad Nawaz Khokhar, Former Deputy Speaker National Assembly visited Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI).

Speaking on the occasion, Zafar Bakhtawari, President ICCI informed the former deputy Speaker about various problems faced by business community especially small traders. He said that the traders of the Federal Capital were facing severe housing problems and demanded that small plots should be allocated to these traders as they played vital role for the development of Islamabad.

ICCI President said that representation of traders in the CDA board of directors is essential that help in creating a bridge between the citizens and the civic agency to understand the rapidly increasing problems of the city and giving their input in the policy making and decision-making process of mega projects.

Mr.Bakhtawari said that local bodies system must be introduced in the Federal Capital like all other cities of Pakistan so as the people of the Capital might also enjoy the fruits of the system. He said that the establishment of local governments would improve the effectiveness of public-private partnership paradigm to evolve strategies for the development of Federal Capital.

He also highlighted the problem of balanced rent control because non-existence of a balanced rent law in the federal capital was the main cause of rising rent disputes between tenants and landlords.

Haji Muhammad Nawaz Khokhar assured his support for solving the problems of traders and said possible concession could be offered to traders in the residential projects of Behria enclave which would definitely resolve the residential problem of traders. He said that multi-story flats could also be constructed in this regard.

Former Deputy Speaker National Assembly stressed upon establishing industrial estate at Chakwal motorway because of relatively affordable property prices. He said that ICCI in collaboration with Chakwal Chamber of Commerce and Industry should work on this project which would facilitate the growth of industrial activities in this Pothohar region.

He also assured his support in execution of ordinance about balanced rent control act and expressed hope that it would soon be made into a law.
