Karachi, March 18, 2019 (PPI-OT): Advisor to Chief Minister Sindh for Information, Law and Anticorruption Barrister Murtaza Wahab has said that election of standing committees will be held as per schedule and according to rules and Procedures of Sindh Assembly. This he said while talking to media persons at Sindh Assembly on Monday. He said that process of filling nomination papers was under way and added that they were still trying to persuade opposition parties to resolve this issue amicably and they were committed to offer chairmanship of fourteen standing committees.
He said they were ready to offer PAC chairmanship to opposition provided they sign charter of democracy (COD). Barrister Murtaza Wahab added that PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah had offered them on the floor of house PAC chairmanship if the sign the CoD. The advisor said that they had tried their best to engage opposition parties for creating better environment in Sindh Assembly.
He said that PPP would file nomination papers for chairmanship of 20 standing committees and would request speaker Sindh Assembly to postpone election on remaining 14 standing committees to give opposition parties another chance to revisit their stance and participate in the process and despite these measures and offers by the treasury benches, if opposition continued the same, it was their right as law allowed them to do so. We should not be blamed for that, he said and added that if opposition accepted our offers, they would welcome them with open heart and if they were bent upon creating hurdles then government would go by rules and procedures of Sindh Assembly.
He slammed some elements who tried to play politics on a dead body of Ghansham in Umerkot and said that the government met all demands put forth by relatives of the killed person, adding that two culprits out of three who were nominated by relatives, had been put behind bar. He said that bereaved family agreed with government to bury the dead body but later PTI Haleem Adil Shaikh and local leadership contacted them and asked them to continue their protest with dead body till their arrival from Karachi. Similarly, he assured that government would fulfill all requirement of justice in death of a teenage girl Bibi Mari whose murder is shrouded in mystery.
