Karachi, In a significant move aimed at reinvigorating the industrial landscape of Sindh, Governor Kamran Khan Tesori chaired a meeting with top bankers, businessmen, and industrialists. The session focused on kickstarting an industrial revolution and restoring the deteriorating industries of the province.
According to Sindh Governor House, Governor Tesori announced the formation of a task force dedicated to driving the industrial revolution and rejuvenating the industries across the region. He pledged comprehensive support to industrialists, promising substantial employment opportunities as a result. The Governor outlined his commitment to equipping the youth with IT skills and ensuring their absorption into the workforce through forthcoming projects under the Sindh Industrial and Commercial Facilitation (SIFC). He emphasized that industries in Sindh will cease relocating to other provinces or countries, predicting a reverse trend where industrialists from elsewhere will be attracted to Sindh.

UN High Commissioner Warns of Escalation in Sudan Conflict on One-Year Anniversary
Geneva, Marking the one-year anniversary of the armed conflict in Sudan, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk issued a stark warning about the potential for further escalation. He highlighted the increasing violence, the arming of civilians by combatants, and the involvement of additional armed groups which could exacerbate the already dire situation.
According to Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Turk detailed the severe impacts of the conflict on the Sudanese population, including indiscriminate attacks in populated areas, ethnically-motivated violence, and significant instances of conflict-related sexual violence. He also expressed deep concern over the recruitment and use of children by the parties involved in the conflict. With recent reports indicating a looming attack on El-Fasher in North Darfur, Turk emphasized the alarming risk of continued violations and abuses against civilians amid an escalating humanitarian crisis.
The situation is further complicated by political tensions, as evidenced by recent arrest warrants issued against key civilian figures, including former Prime Minister Abdallah Hamdok. These charges, which carry the potential for the death penalty, appear to lack substantial evidence and risk further destabilizing the country.
Turk advocated for a reduction in the number of armed participants to foster a peaceful resolution to the conflict. He urged the Sudanese authorities to revoke the arrest warrants against Hamdok and other leaders, and to initiate confidence-building measures aimed at achieving a ceasefire. This should be followed by a comprehensive resolution to the conflict and the restoration of a civilian-led government.
The High Commissioner provided a grim overview of the conflict’s toll: thousands of civilians killed or injured, widespread destruction of essential infrastructure, and a humanitarian crisis that has displaced over eight million people and left nearly 18 million facing acute food insecurity. He called for all parties to allow humanitarian and human rights workers safe access to affected areas and to take steps to prevent further civilian suffering.
Turk emphasized the importance of civil society’s role in the country’s recovery and urged all parties to cooperate with international efforts, including the UN-appointed human rights experts and fact-finding missions, to ensure accountability and support for human rights initiatives.

Larkana, On the final day of his three-day visit to Larkana, Provincial Advisor to the Chief Minister on Livestock, Syed Najmi Alam, visited the Livestock Department’s regional office, directing the initiation of a widespread livestock vaccination program across all tehsils of Sindh.
According to Chief Minister Sindh, during his visit, Advisor Alam chaired a meeting where he ordered the establishment of mobile laboratories to test vaccine efficacy at the village level and stressed the importance of keeping animal hospitals operational in remote areas to enhance accessibility for villagers. He emphasized the need for maintaining meticulous records within the department to ensure accountability and readiness for audits.
Advisor Alam also advocated for public education on the benefits of salt mixtures in animal feed to boost livestock productivity. His tour included stops at the Breeding Office and the Sub-Sector Office in Larkana, where he received briefings on the current status and progress of ongoing projects. Pakistan Interior Minister Links India to Murder of Amir Tamba, Cites Pattern in Killings
Islamabad, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi indicated on Monday that Indian involvement is suspected in the recent murder of Amir Sarfraz Tamba, a Pakistani national previously acquitted in the death of Indian prisoner Sarabjit Singh.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Naqvi suggested that India’s hand might also be evident in four similar murder cases preceding Tamba’s death. During a media briefing at the Federal Investigation Agency office in Lahore, he stated, “Police are investigating the firing on Amir Tamba and so far, they suspect India is behind it. India was involved in four other murder incidents on a similar pattern as well. However, it will not be suitable to say anything until the investigation is complete.”
The assassination occurred on Sunday when Tamba was shot by two motorcycle riders in the jurisdiction of Islampura police station. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries. In response, police have launched a manhunt for the unidentified assailants, utilizing CCTV footage to aid their search, and a case has been registered based on a complaint from Tamba’s brother, Junaid Sarfraz.
In 2013, Tamba was accused of fatally assaulting Indian prisoner Sarabjit Singh in Kot Lakhpat jail, where Singh was serving a death sentence for terrorism. Tamba and co-accused Mudasir Munir were later acquitted in 2018 after witnesses withdrew their statements. Tamba, who was 45 and a spice dealer, lived with his brothers in Islampura.
Further raising tensions, Naqvi referenced an April 5 interview in which Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh acknowledged the Indian government’s policy under Prime Minister Narendra Modi of orchestrating killings in Pakistan, including cross-border operations to target individuals accused of terrorism.

Leh Apex Body to Launch Protest March for Ladakh’s Shepherds and Statehood Demand
Leh, The Leh Apex Body (LAB) is set to initiate a five-day foot march on April 17 to Skang Chu-Thang near the Himachal Pradesh border, aiming to support local shepherds affected by industrial encroachments on pasture land, as announced by climate activist Sonam Wangchuk.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the LAB, in conjunction with the Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA), has been actively campaigning for the past four years to secure Statehood for Ladakh and inclusion in the Sixth Schedule of the Indian Constitution. The march is part of broader efforts to bring attention to the challenges facing the region, particularly the loss of vital pasture lands to large-scale industrial projects and border tensions.
Sonam Wangchuk emphasized that the primary goal of the march is to convey the distress of Ladakh’s residents to the relevant authorities and urge them to honor their commitments. The initial plan for a border march earlier this month was postponed when authorities implemented restrictive measures, including prohibitory orders and internet speed reductions to 2G, due to concerns about potential disruptions to peace.
Wangchuk clarified that the rescheduled march, set to coincide with the festival of Ram Navami, is intended to proceed without contention, noting that it will occur entirely within Indian territory and should not provoke governmental concerns.
