Islamabad, January 08, 2021 (PPI-OT): Synoptic Situation

A shallow westerly wave is present over upper parts of the country.

Friday

Cold and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country while very cold in Upper areas and North Balochistan. However, rain (snowfall over hills) is expected in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Potohar region, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir and adjoining hilly areas. Dense fog is likely in plain areas of Punjab and upper Sindh.

Saturday

Cold and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country while very cold in Upper areas and North Balochistan. Dense fog is likely in plain areas of Punjab and upper Sindh.

Past 24 Hour Weather

Cold and dry weather prevailed over most parts of the country, while very cold in north Balochistan and northern areas. However, rain occurred at isolated places in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Snowfall is also recorded in Malam Jabba and Kalam during this period.

Rainfall (mm): Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Mirkhani 12, Saidu Sharif, Malam Jabba 03, Upper Dir, Drosh 02 and Buner 01.

Snowfall (Inch): Malam Jabba 01 and Kalam Trace.

Today’s Lowest Minimum Temperature’s (°C): Ziarat -14, Gupis, Kalat -13, Quetta -10, Astore, Bagrote -09, Mastung, Pishin -08, Skardu, Parachinar -07, Leh, Malam Jabba, Kalam and Dalbandin -06.
