Karachi, January 08, 2021 (PPI-OT): Operation was continue on the third day for removal of operation from Mehmoodabad nullah and approximately 5.5 kilometre area has been evacuated. Area of Manzoor Colony Fire Station to Korangi would be widened with a help of heavy machinery in coming days. Administrator Karachi Laeeq Ahmed on Wednesday visited Mehmoodabad Manzoor Colony nullah accompanied by Metropolitan Commissioner Afzal Zaidi and other concerned officials. The Administrator reviewed Anti-Encroachment operation and passed directives to concerned officials. He said that importance of the area would be increased after removal of encroachment.
Ahmed said that the people were facing hardships due to litter and they were living in unhealthy environment. He said that road would be constructed around the nullah and the area would depict a different look. He said that it is welcoming that area residents have cooperated with the administration as some people razed illegal builts themselves. He said that operation would be completed in few days.
The Administrator said that the encroachments are being removed on directives of Supreme Court of Pakistan and KMC’s Anti-Encroachment Department, Katchi Abadi department, Land department, Municipal Services, City Wardens and other are taking part in the operation. He said that encroachments are being removed from both sides of Mehmoodabad nullah for road construction through which heavy traffic would pass.
He said that encroachment would also be removed from around seven kilometre area from Manzoor Colony Fire Station to Korangi. Briefing the Administrator, Metropolitan Commissioner Afzal Zaidi said that 57 houses and shops were partially affected during the removal operation. He said that the area people are cooperating with the local administration and they are not facing any reaction. He said that restoration of Mehmoodabad nullah as per its original plan would be ensured.
