Karachi, December 13, 2013 (PPI-OT): Further to its initiatives, a delegation of Pakistan and Afghanistan Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PAJCCI) will visit Kabul (Afghanistan) from December 23 -26, 2013 under the leadership of its Co-President; Mr. Muhammad Zubair Motiwala.
The objective of the visit is to explore bilateral trading and investment opportunities across the border and the delegation will be provided an opportunity to interact with business and trading community during B2B match-making and networking meeting being organized by PAJCCI. Additionally the delegation would also meet important ministries and officials with the purpose to enhance bilateral ties.
The meetings will be held with Ministry of Commerce, Afghanistan Investment Support Agency, Ministry of Finance and Ambassador of Pakistan to Kabul along with representatives from Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry and other important institutions in Kabul.
PAJCCI, keeping its legacy, has recently conducted 2nd Trade Survey which will become basis of holding 2nd Annual Conference on bilateral opportunities to be held in Kabul during the same time. At the event, related ministries and official from across the border would participate and share their plan of action for future to further strengthen the bilateral ties.
During the visit, the delegation will also hold talks with the stakeholders of Afghanistan on Afghanistan-Pakistan Transit Trade Agreement (APTTA) and bilateral trade between both countries. The delegation in meetings with their Afghan counter-parts will also review the effects of the new agreement in context of recently conducted APTTCA meeting in October 2013 on bilateral and transit trade.
The trading community of Pakistan have big expectations from the visit of the delegation, particularly for the resolution of problems emerged in wake of transit agreement. The bilateral trade negotiations will be focused on the promotion of bilateral trade, restoration of banking system in Afghanistan, exchange of trade delegations, extending of facilities to the business community of both sides and other matters. The negotiations will go long way in the promotion of Pak-Afghan trade relations.
PAJCCI believes that this would be an instrumental forum to enhance connections across the border and develop strong ties with its neighbouring country. It is to be noted that several significant untapped sectors in Afghanistan are Construction and allied materials, Food items, Fruits and Vegetables, Dry fruits, Pharmaceuticals. It is expected that all potential business and trading entities will utilize this opportunity to tap unexplored prospects in Afghanistan and will become part of this important delegation.
