Trade Development Authority of Pakistan would run on fast track without bureaucratic restraints: Zakaria Usman

Karachi, March 20, 2014 (PPI-OT): The appointment of S M Muneer as CEO of TDAP is the accomplishment of long desire of the business community of Pakistan who has now great hopes from him that TDAP will enter into new era of prosperity and will be a business friendly organization which was hitherto being run unprofessionally. This was stated by Mr. Zakaria Usman, President FPCCI. He further stated that the appointment of Mr. S M Muneer is a wise decision of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in a bid to rescue TDAP from corruption and it would now run on fast track without bureaucratic restraints.

He further said that unscrupulous appointments, lack of professionalism and personal interest not only derailed TDAP of its objectives but lost its image in the business circle. The rampant corruption prevailed in the organization during last few years was visible which ruined the confidence of the business community at large.

While commenting on the appointment of new CEO of TDAP, the President FPCCI said that Mr. S M Muneer has an outstanding track record, highly respected and great experience in his profile which will help to restore the confidence of the business community in TDAP which was earlier plagued with corruption and scandals in export and freight subsidies. Unfortunately some of the predecessors of Mr. S M Muneer are behind the bars and are being investigated for massive misuse of huge Export Development Funds (EDF) which was in fact the money of Pakistani exporters.

The President FPCCI said that TDAP has to play an important role in uplifting the image of Pakistan in terms of its overall economy, trade and industry. He assured full cooperation of FPCCI to new Chief Executive Officer of TDAP in his assignments.

He said that FPCCI will keep pace with TDAP in boosting exports, holding trade fairs and exhibitions, solo exhibitions abroad, trade delegations, Expo Pakistan, facilitating business community in resolving their problems, activating the commercial counselors of Pakistan abroad, driving maximum benefits from GSP Plus status recently granted to Pakistan, promotion of women entrepreneurs, exploration of new markets.
