Karachi, August 12, 2014 (PPI-OT): Zakaria Usman, President, Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) has urged the Chairman, Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) To extend the deadline of filing Sales Tax Return for the tax period July 2014 from August 15 to August 31, 2014 and Sales Tax Return form be made available on FBR Web portal for this purpose.

He argued that the form, incorporating the amendments made in Sales Tax Act 1990 vide Finance Act 2014 (if any) has not been uploaded as yet on FBR’s web portal, thus creating confusion and chaos for the registered persons in e-filing of their returns.

Moreover, the FPCCI Chief added that there was a slowdown in normal business activities due to a variety of reasons in the holy month of Ramadan and also remained suspended during the long spell of Eid holidays and thereafter too, the trade and economic activities could not be started at full pace as yet due to panic and uncertainty prevailing in the country in the wake of Long March and Azadi March on 14th August, 2014.
