Sindh Chief Minister presides meeting about development works

Karachi, December 02, 2013 (PPI-OT): The Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah has directed to the works and services department to ensure completion of 47 schemes for the construction of about 1800 kilometer of roads with qualitative work by Dec 31st , 2013 so that people of area could enjoy the better communication facilities.

This he directed while presiding over the meeting to review over the development works at committee room of Sindh Secretariat Karachi today. The Sindh Minister for Works and Services Mir Hazar Khan Bijarani, Advisor to CM for Finance Syed Murad Ali Shah , Chief Secretary Sindh Sajjad Saleem Hotiyana, Additional Secretary Development Arif Ahmed Khan , Secretary to Works and Services Kazi Shahid Pervaiz, Secretary to CM Rai Sikandar, Secretary Finance Sohail Rajput , DG planning and development Syed Imtiaz Shah other attended the meeting. Addressing the meeting the Chief Minister directed the officers to give priority to those development schemes which are at the verge of completion.

He said that Finance department has also been directed to release full funds against such scheme. The Chief Minister directed the officers also to ensure quality of the work and warned that in case of sub standard work the officer concerned would be taken to task.

The Chief Minister also directed to the officers of monitoring and evaluation wing of P and D Department and Secretary Works and Services to go in the field and examine and evaluate the quality and performance of work administratively, financially and technically and report to him about their findings.

The Chief Minister Sindh while taking notice for delay in the completion of 134 km Nawab Shah – Padidan – Ranipur road asked the officers to communicate the railway authorities for getting their N.O.C about over head bridges on this road and get it completed within shortest possible time for which an allocation of Rs. 268.635 million has been released.

The Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah while taking serious notice of an accident / collision between running train and chingchi which took place in District Dadu at unman railway crossing recently, resulting in 8 casualties, directed the Secretary works and services to conduct joint survey about unman Railway crossing in Sindh and also to prepare PC-I for installation of barriers or gats at these places to avoid incidents in future.

The Chief Minister Sindh also directed the officers to take reconstruction of Torri to Manjhi bridge road in the hand and complete it on priority basis. The Chief Minister Sindh said that the Japanese Assisted Rural Road Project which was launched to construct 500 K.m roads in the rural areas Sindh must be given priority and completed with in stipulated period.

The Secretary Works and Services Kazi Shahid Pervaiz while briefing the meeting said that out of 427 ongoing development schemes in road sector. 76 are being completed on the priority basis which would be completed by Dec 2013, while about 47 such schemes to be completed by June 2013.

He said that the schemes to construct 500 K.m under Japanese Financial Assistance 403 K.m roads have been completed while work on the remaining schemes was going on. He informed the meeting that the 51 schemes to reconstruct 950 K.m roads damaged in flood 2010 have also been completed with estimated cost of Rs. 12569. million.
