Karachi, December 17, 2013 (PPI-OT): The Chartered Accountants Students Association – South (CASA – S) organised the CA Students’ Conference 2013 with theme ‘I am more than a number’ in collaboration with the Southern Regional Committee of ICAP, here on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest, renowned economist Dr. Ishrat Hussain, Dean and Director of IBA and Former Governor of State Bank of Pakistan described his extra ordinary experience as a economist through various stories.
He said this was a remarkable alliance between a top ranking business school and the leading accountancy body of the country to strengthen the brand of the two partnering institutions. “The IBA can attract a talented chunk of the students by giving them a novel option of pursuing chartered accountancy as a career and the ICAP will get students with a sound academic background prepared at a leading higher education institution,”
On the occasion, a keynote speaker Nasim Beg, FCA, Executive Vice President, MCB – Arif Habib Savings gave a thorough insight on the topic ‘what it takes to be more than a number in the education of Pakistan.’ He emphasized on the attainment of education as the key to transform lives. CA Students’ Conference was a conduit of powerful ideas..
The conference was also addressed by Ebrahim Qassim, FCA, Chairman Shield Corporation who highlighted the need to look beyond numbers by primarily engaging in activities that could be beneficial for the nation and mankind as a whole.

Chairman CASA in his concluding address thanked team CASA for organizing a conference that made an impact on their lives.
CASA was established in the year 1968, with an aim to bridge the communication and expectation gap between the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) and the trainees of Chartered Accountant firms and to provide a platform to trainees to exhibit their hidden talents and prove their mettle by organizing extra – curricular and co – curricular activities.
Since its formation, CASA has sailed through a rough, yet interesting path over the last 44 years as a society of students, elected by the students to serve their best interests. In the end Vice President, ICAP South Riaz A. Rahman Chamdia highlighted the steps beings taken by ICAP for the Chartered Accountants.
