Pakistan Industrial and Traders Associations Front urges government to declare 2014 as Year of Energy Generation
Lahore, March 07, 2014 (PPI-OT): Pakistan Industrial and Traders Associations Front (PIAF) on Friday urged the government to declare 2014 as Year of Energy Generation and announce cut-off date of all the energy generation projects that are in the pipeline.
In a statement issued here, the PIAF Chairman Malik Tahir Javaid said that the business community was thankful to the present government for minimizing the power outages for the industrial sector but if a schedule of completion of ongoing projects is announced well ahead of time, it would give new confidence to the local and foreign investors.
The PIAF Chairman said that the fact remains that the government initiatives had improved the investment scenario in the country besides building the trust of private sector in government.
He said that the energy is basic raw material of the industry and the country could not be put on path to progress and prosperity unless and until cheaper electricity is not ensured. He said that the government should also convene a joint sitting of the both houses of the parliament to initiate debate on Kalabagh Dam which is a key to our success. He said that at the Joint Parliament session, the leaders of the business community should also be invited to seek their views on this issue of vital national importance.
The PIAF Chairman said that if the Parliamentarian from all the provinces and the business community from all over the country give green signal to the government, then the project should be started without any further delay.
Malik Tahir Tavaid said that the government had earned a good name due to its liaison with the private sector and if it successfully wins the trust of all the stakeholders in the country its name would be remembered for a long time to come.
The PIAF Chairman, meanwhile, expressed the optimism that the Nandipur Power projects would start producing electricity as per its schedule in May 2014.
