Srinagar, October 20, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, a day after Election Commission of India hinted at holding the so-called assembly elections in the territory, the Indian Army has started tightening its noose around pro-freedom leaders and activists to prevent them from mobilizing masses against the election drama.
A senior Indian Army official in a media interview in Srinagar said, “Army will ensure that assembly polls are held in safe and peaceful environment.”
Perceiving stiff resistance from the Hurriyet cadres against farcical elections, the official said that during the Lok Saba polls Army had carried out the threat assessment. “On the basis of threat perception management we deployed forces to ensure incident free polls,” he said adding that same exercise would be repeated.
“Round-the-clock patrolling, dominations of areas where poll activity takes place will be carried out,” he said adding that Army will secure main roads so that there is no problem in ferrying the election related staff and material.
