Lahore, April 30, 2015 (PPI-OT): The first ever international standard artificial turf will be installed in Khanewal. FIFA official (Consultant director FIFA) Eric Harrison hailing from UK visited Khanewal Goal project and showed overwhelming satisfaction over the progress of the project. He expressed his view saying, “The first ever artificial turf in Pakistan will be installed in Khanewal and it is an ideal venue for this. Installation would be completed by December 2015 and one of the FIFA’s registered contractors will be engaged to finish this project”.
The Khanewal goal project will be consisting of international standard boarding and lodging facilities for 225 players/officials, 1 International size pitch, 1 practice/training pitch, conference room and staff offices. The building of the goal project/FIFA Football academy in Khanewal is being carried out at a great speed. It is expected to be completed and operational in the early months of 2016.
It is worth mentioning that all the allied requirements for the artificial turf will also be provided by FIFA. It was also proposed that in the next phase a swimming pool, gymnasium and international level flood lights will also be installed. This will not only serve as an epicenter of football development for Khanewal but will be a game changer for the whole country as Khanewal is located in the center of Pakistan. This will be marked as a great milestone in Pakistan football’s history.
Col (r) Ahmad Yar Khan (General Sec PFF) said, “The installation of international level artificial turf in Khanewal is yet another remarkable achievement under the leadership of Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat. Due to his rigorous efforts, Pakistan has gained new heights in the development of football.”
He also appreciated the role of Sheikh Khalid (DCO Khanewal), CH. Ashfaq (ADCG Khanewal), Abid Bhatti (Assistant Commissioner), Mian Bari (Secretary DFA Khanewal) who were also present on this occasion along with Alam Khan Niazi (President DFA Khanewal), Abdul Jabbar (Member Congress PFA), Nishat Ahmed Khan Daha (MPA) , Rana Babar Ali (MPA) alongwith Presidents and Secretaries from the registered clubs and a large number of football players in Khanewal were also present.
