Chairman Standard Chartered Bank calls on President Mamnoon Hussain

Islamabad, November 19, 2013 (PPI-OT): Sir John Peace, Chairman, Standard Chartered PLC, called on President Mamnoon Hussain at the Aiwan-e-Sadr today.

The Chairman Standard Chartered PLC apprised the President about the operation, services, various activities and contribution of the standard Chartered Bank in the economic development of Pakistan.

The President said that banking sector plays an important role in economic growth and country’s overall economic development. Highlighting government’s efforts to attract investment, the President said that Pakistan was an emerging market with great potential for growth and reiterated that government was offering attractive incentives to the international and domestic investors by putting in place investment friendly regime.

The President appreciated the valuable contributions made by the Banking sector including Standard Chartered Bank towards economic development of Pakistan by facilitating businesses, entrepreneurs and general public with the wide range of financial services across the country. The President expressed hope that the Bank will continue playing its role in the development of the country.

Sir John Peace, Chairman, Standard Chartered PLC was accompanied by Mr. Christos Papadopoulos, Regional CEO, Middle East, North Africa and Pakistan and Chairman of the Board –Standard Chartered Bank (Pakistan) Limited, Mr. Mohsin Ali Nathani, Chief Executive, Standard Chartered Bank (Pakistan) Limited and Mr. Zaheer Mehdi, Managing Director (North), Standard Chartered Bank (Pakistan) Limited.

Secretary to the President, Mr. Ahmad Farooq, Press Secretary to the President, Ms. Saba Mohsin Raza and Additional Secretary (Banking), finance ministry , Mr. Muhammad Akbar Sharifzada were also present during the meeting.
