Islamabad, December 09, 2013 (PPI-OT): A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on Monday at Pakistan National Council of Arts (PNCA) on bilateral cooperation between the Academy of Persian Language and Literature (Farhangistan-i-Zuban-o-Adab-i-Farsi) of Islamic Republic of Iran and National Language Promotion Department (Idara Farough-i-Qaumi Zaban), Ministry of Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage of Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
Dr. Gholam Ali Haddad Adel, Head of Academy of Persian Language and Literature signed the MoU on behalf of Islamic Republic of Iran while Dr. Nazir Saeed, Federal Secretary, M/o Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage signed as representative of Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
In 2009, it was proposed that two countries may exchange their cooperation and expertise in developing their national languages. The draft MoU was prepared and negotiated in consultation with all stake holders and finally approved by the Government of Pakistan in October, 2013. Simultaneously, it also got vetted from relevant forum in Iran.
The MoU will help in strengthening the brotherly relations between Iran and Pakistan. The Persian Language has a deep rooted effect on the development of Urdu language. Hence, it will help to enhance the opportunity for both countries to interact with each other on modern lines for mutual benefits. Both countries will grasp benefits of development of technology in the field of typography and other different aspect of the language.
It will also provide avenue for joint training programmes, exchange of trainers, training and information material. Exchange of knowledge, experience and delegation and arrangement of joint research will also benefit both countries in the development of their national languages.
