Pakistan Day Celebrated In Dubai

Abu Dhabi, March 23, 2014 (PPI-OT): National Day of Pakistan was celebrated in UAE here today with tradition fervour and enthusiasm. Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan at Abu Dhabi and Consulate General of Pakistan, Dubai led the Pakistan Day celebrations with flag-hoisting ceremonies, paying rich tribute to the forefathers for their epic freedom struggle and resolving to work for the country’s advancement as a great nation.

Ceremonies at both the venues began with recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an. A flag hoisting ceremony to celebrate the 74th National Day of Pakistan was held at the premises of the Embassy of Pakistan, Abu Dhabi at 0800 hours. Ambassador Asif Ali Khan Durrani hoisted the National Flag as the National Anthem of Pakistan was played on the occasion.

Another ceremony in UAE was held at 0800 hours in the premises of Pakistan Consulate at Dubai. Consul General Javed Jalil Khattak hoisted the National Flag while the National Anthem was played.

A large number of Pakistanis along with their families residing in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and surrounding areas visited the Embassy and Consulate General of Pakistan to attend the ceremonies and joined in reciting the National Anthem.

Messages of the President and the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan were read out to the audience on these occasions. In his message President Mr. Mamnoon Hussain urged the people of Pakistan to reiterate the pledge towards those ideals that led to creation of Pakistan. He stressed upon holding high the banners of democracy, constitutionalism and rule of law.

Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, in his message called on the people of Pakistan that every effort should be made for achieving the objectives of Quaid-e-Azam’s vision. He said that the People of Pakistan had expressed their confidence in PML-N in 2013 elections and the government was committed to implement its reform and development oriented manifesto throughout the country in letter and spirit.

The Prime Minister reiterated his resolve that no effort would be spared to ensure respectable status for the country in the comity of the nations. He expressed his government resolve to preserve cultural heritage and national identity and pledged making earnest efforts for bringing about economic and social revival in Pakistan.

Addressing the community members, Ambassador Asif Durrani said the 1.2 million Pakistanis living in the United Arab Emirates make a significant contribution to the nation’s development by remitting over US$ 3 billion per annum. He urged them to rely on banking channels to enhance the remittance levels and further assist Pakistan’s economic progress. He also urged the need to raise education standards in order to prepare the coming generation to compete in the world.

Ambassador Durrani said even though Pakistan faces a number of challenges, it is a strong country with functioning democratic institutions, stable macro-economic indicators and a vibrant working class that have the potential to deliver.

Pakistan Day ceremonies at both places concluded with prayers for progress, prosperity and solidarity of the country.

The Ambassador Asif Ali Khan Durrani and Consul General Javed Jalil Khattak held cake cutting ceremonies before the conclusion of the ceremonies, which were attended by the children, members of the Overseas Pakistani community, and staff of the Consulate to commemorate Pakistan National Day.
