Khurram Dastagir Khan to depart for Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan on a two-day visit with the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on 20th May
Islamabad, May 19, 2015 (PPI-OT): Federal Minister for Commerce, Engr. Khurram Dastagir Khan will depart for Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan on a two-day visit with the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on 20th May. The Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan, H. E. Mr. Kubanychbek Toktorbaev called on the Federal Minister and discussed the details of the coming visit of the Prime Minister and the future trade prospects between the two countries.
During this visit, an MoU will be signed between the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan and the trade promotion organization of Turkmenistan to enhance trade between the two countries. The Kyrgyz Ambassador informed the Minister that on the completion of Pak-China Economic Corridor, Pakistan’s export items can easily be transported to Kyrgyzstan and then to Russia as there is an established infrastructure network from Kashgar to Kyrgyzstan.
He also expressed Kyrgyz Government’s intention to join Pakistan Afghanistan Trilateral Transit Trade Agreement which will connect it to a lucrative emerging trading route. The Ambassador also informed that during this May Kyrgyzstan will become full member of the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan.
He also said that Kyrgyzstan is also interested in a quadrilateral transit trade agreement between Pakistan, China, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan which can be further extended to the lucrative markets of Russia. He also expressed Kyrgyz Government’s intention to join Pakistan Afghanistan Trilateral Transit Trade Agreement.
The Minister said that Pakistan is the transit route for Central Asia for its trade with South Asia and the world through sea route. He said that the Western part of the Pak-China Economic Corridor will facilitate Pakistan’s trade to Afghanistan and Iran and further to Central Asia and Russia. The Minister expressed his desire that Pakistan wants to see the region grow together through a vision of shared prosperity.
