Operational meeting of National Highway and Motorway Police through Video Link

Islamabad, February 02, 2014 (PPI-OT): The IG NH and MP Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema has ordered for strict enforcement on lane discipline, helmet and seat belt for the upcoming three months. He also ordered to ensure the presence of two drivers in PSV vehicles of long route for the safety of commuters. He was addressing the Operational Officers through video link at Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Sukkur, Multan and Quetta in the HEC auditorium. The meeting was attended by all zonal DIGs and Sector SSPs of NH and MP.

The Inspector General examined operational affairs of each sector in detail and passed directions. He stressed that free flow of traffic on highways and motorways is foremost and basic principle of the department that can only be achieved by strict lane discipline; therefore all-out efforts be made, to maintain lane discipline on highways and motorways.

IG, NH and MP showed satisfaction on the reduction of accidents in the last six months on highways and motorways but ordered to give more attention to patrolling and all operational matters. He also ordered the DIG Training to start courses on “Public Dealings” in the NH and MP Training College.

He said that officers should stress on helping the road users in distress more instantly as facilitating commuters is one of the salient features of the department. The Inspector General desired absolute impartiality strict discipline and zero tolerance towards corruption, dishonesty and rude behavior with road users. It was also decided to enhance the welfare packages of the officers.

At the end of the meeting Inspector General, Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema thanked the management of Higher Education Commission for their assistance in holding video Conference.
