Karachi, April 02, 2015 (PPI-OT): The Pakistan and United States has long term strategic partnership and enjoying cordial diplomatic and economic and trade relations said by Mian Muhammad Idrees President Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) in a meeting with H.E Mr. Brian Heath, Consul General who visited Federation House Karachi on 2nd April 2015. The meeting was attended by Senior Vice Presidents Abdul Rahim Janoo, Vice Presidents Waseem Vohra, Ikram Rajput, Shahnawaz Ishtiaq, Zubair Tufail, Gulzar Feroz, Executive Committee Members of FPCCI and other leading businessmen.
While sharing his views the FPCCI President Mian Muhammad Idrees told that the FPCCI is one of the oldest autonomous and non-profitable trade body of the country established in 1950 with vision of increasing trade and commercial activities in the country. With the vast network of four Provincial Capital offices and an overseas office at China, 60 chambers including 8 small chambers and 110 registered trade association bodies FPCCI is playing significant role to enhance exports and trade activities of the Country by representing the Private Sector as well.
He emphasized that we need trade not traditional aid. Despite economic uncertainty, poor law and order situation and other issues, Pakistan Economic is surviving and much better from other countries.
He further said that since is the largest trade and economic partner of Pakistan therefore she can help Pakistan in the energy crisis and avail numerous investment opportunities in the Education, Textile, Science and Technology sectors.
The President said that the FPCCI has been playing a vital role in facilitating its members across Pakistan and this Platform is available to increase trade and economic cooperation between both countries by sending delegation and B2B Meetings. He also emphasized to soften the Visa policy for Business Community. On that Occasion the Vice President Mr. Waseem Vohra suggested that the US investors can invest in Automobile, I.T, Coal Mining, Textile, Education and Energy sectors in Pakistan.
While responding the various Question raised by the office bearers of FPCCI, the US Consul General said that he will do his efforts to resolve the issue of limited market access to Pakistan. He also said certain steps would be taken to empowerment of women, increase exports and investments and the exchange of trade delegations to build people to people contact which is the most effective element for enhancing the bilateral and economic/commercial relations. In the last, the vote of thanks was given to the visiting US Consul General by The Vice President Mr. Abdul Rahim Janoo.
