Pakistan Chemicals and Dyes Merchants Association opposes 15percent random balloting, discrimination and implementation of guideline prices for Karachi based importers

Karachi, October 03, 2014 (PPI-OT): The Elected Chairman of PCDMA Mr. M. Haroon Nisar Numberdar has suggested to the Government (FBR) to eliminate the Discrimination.

Speaking at 41st Annual General Body Meeting (AGM) of the PCDMA, he said that discrimination between commercial importers of industrial Chemical and industries he said he will make all possible efforts so that this ambiguity should be resolved, adding that Commercial Importer are supplying raw materials to industries on credit uninterruptedly without any interest, so that the production activities could be continued without any pause.

About 15 percent balloting for audit, he said that this should be reversed, he expressed serious reservations over the recently held computer balloting, which selected certain commercial importers. The commercial importers are paying full and final tax at import stage and principally final discharge of tax should not be subjected to audit. The registered units are paying 3 percent value addition tax along with 17 percent sales tax.

Numberdar strongly condemned guideline prices for the clearance of imported industrial materials and demanded valuation on imported goods on price certificate of PCDMA. He said that exorbitant higher rate of guideline price has increased the cost of manufacturing tremendously.

He expressed that manufactures are passing this increase to consumer’s end that are already under heavy financial crises and it is also very surprising that guideline prices are only implemented for Karachi based traders.

Speaking about bilaterate trade with neighbouring country, he was of the view that trade relation between Pakistan and India should be normalized and two-way trade should be increased, which will benefit to local industries for keep control their cost of production.

He further said the business community facing a number of challenges, including high mark-up rates, law and order problem, travel advisory, taxation policies. He said these issues could only be resolved with persistence efforts of business community leaders i.e. Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry / all Chambers and their power to convince those sitting on the helm of affairs.
