Pakistan Day celebrated in Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur, March 24, 2014 (PPI-OT): A flag raising ceremony was held at the Pakistan High Commission, Kuala Lumpur today to commemorate the 74th National Day of Pakistan. The event was attended by a large number of Pakistanis living in Malaysia. The High Commissioner for Pakistan to Malaysia, H.E. Syed Hassan Raza hoisted the Pakistani flag.

The messages of the President and the Prime Minister were also read on the occasion. President Mamnoon Hussain in his message underlined that unparalleled democratic struggle by our ancestors was aimed at providing the Muslims of the sub-continent a place where they could develop to the fullest spiritual, cultural, economic, social and political life in a way that they thought best and in consonance with their own ideals and genius.

In his message, the Prime Minister of Pakistan Mohammad Nawaz Sharif touched upon the significance of the day and highlighted the innumerable sacrifices made by the Muslims of the sub-continent to achieve an independent state. He reiterated government’s resolve to preserve great cultural heritage and national identity and to make earnest efforts for bringing about economic and social revival in Pakistan.

In his address, the High Commissioner paid glowing tribute to the founder of the nation, Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah whose visionary leadership and tireless efforts converted the dream of Allama Iqbal into a reality. The High Commissioner also highlighted the efforts of the present government to overcome various challenges faced by the country including the energy crisis and for the well being of the youth by generating employment and business venture schemes. He also noted the efforts of the government to bring peace and stability in the country.

On solving the problems of Pakistani citizens living in Malaysia, he assured that consular assistance and services will be provided to Pakistanis. He also expressed gratitude to the government of Malaysia for helping in making the stay of Pakistanis comfortable. Later the Pakistani community offered their prayers for the safety of passengers of missing Malaysia Airways flight.
