Pakistan finalizes regulatory framework with Germany to import Electric Vehicles

Islamabad, March 22, 2023 (PPI-OT): Minister for Economic Affairs, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq says Pakistan and Germany share a cordial and friendly relationship, and both the countries are committed to strengthen their ties in the future. He expressed these views while talking to German Ambassador to Pakistan Alfred Grannas, who called on him in Islamabad on Wednesday.

During the meeting, they discussed matters of mutual interest. Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said Pakistan is thankful to the German government for their continuous support during the 2022 floods.

He highlighted that Pakistan is also actively promoting the use of renewable energy, electric vehicles and solarization in the country. Moreover, Pakistan is also looking forward to the government-to-government negotiations on technical cooperation between the two countries scheduled in May.

On this occasion, the German Ambassador stressed on enhancing bilateral ties saying that Germany is not only the most significant and largest trading partner of Pakistan in the entire European Union, but also one of the leading countries in financial assistance for flood-affected people in 2022.

He also appreciated the Government of Pakistan’s outlook towards environment protection and efficient utilization of natural resources, clean and green energy.

During the meeting, the German envoy apprised the Minister for Economic Affairs that a positive regulatory framework for import of Electric Vehicles has been a major step which promises to reduce Pakistan’s reliance on importing petroleum products.
