Peacocks of Thar should be cured immediately: Minister

Karachi, July 31, 2012 (PPI-OT): Sindh Minister for Environment Shaikh Muhammad Afzal showed his grievances on the death of peacocks at Thar and said that peacocks are the beauty of Thar, they should be cured immediately. He further said that peacocks are dying of ‘Rani Khet’ disease which is now spreading to other districts of Sindh.

He appealed the authorities of wildlife department for taking immediate and effective steps for overcoming that disease. Shaikh Muhammad Afzal also directed the officers of Environment Department for taking an active part with wildlife department as the death of peacocks would be stopped through medical treatment.

A team from Environment Department visited Thar and Mirpurkhas on the directives of Environment Minister and collected the reasons of the death of peacocks. Sindh Minister further said that the Environment Department is ready to cooperate with the Wildlife Department.
