Petroleum minister appeals to the nation for helping create awareness regarding curbing menace of sabotage on gas pipelines

Islamabad, April 19, 2013 (PPI-OT): Mr. Sohail Wajahat H. Siddiqui, Minister Petroleum has appealed to the nation for helping create awareness regarding curbing the menace of sabotage on gas pipelines across the country.

Unfortunately, during the month of April 2013, 11 numbers of incidents of sabotage / terrorist attacks on pipelines have taken place, which has resulted in gas supply disruption from some of the sources due to which our utility companies could not supply gas to their valued customers.

Mr. Sohail Wajahat H. Siddiqui, Minister Petroleum has been monitoring the situation closely and has been issuing instructions to the Managing Directors of the respective companies. Teams were dispatched for immediate repair of the damaged pipelines, on each occasion, which successfully resumed gas supply while working at odd hours and in arduous security circumstances. Presently, three teams are working simultaneously to restore gas supply, thus resulting in resource constraints.

Ministry of Petroleum reiterates its commitment to maintain continuous supply of energy resources to the masses, and in this regard is taking proactive actions in coordination with all stakeholders.
