Karachi, June 07, 2013 (PPI-OT): KMC Administrator Syed Hashim Raza Zaidi has said that plants and trees were a good source of reducing environmental pollution therefore this natural wealth should be availed as much as possible. Along with induction of new animals in Karachi Zoo plantation and greenery in adjoining areas could protect these areas from environmental degradation which would increase beauty.
He said this while issuing directives in a meeting held in Karachi zoo with reference to World Environmental Day. Administrator Karachi said that Karachi Zoo consisted of a big and wide green land in initial times which was used as central garden for citizens and a good number of rare trees were planted here many of which were still in zoo whereas more trees were also planted gradually which have not only reduced environmental pollution but also enhanced beauty of zoo.
He directed Director Zoo to carry on increasing plantation and green fields in Karachi Zoo and renovate it with seasonal and other colourful flowers. On the occasion of World Environmental Day Director Zoo Aqeel Tazeem Naqvi while addressing the ceremony said that more plantation like Karachi Zoo should be carried out on other locations of the city which could diminish environmental degradation largely.
He said that citizens of Karachi love plants and trees and this expression should be emerged more. Plantation campaign for dealing with environmental degradation in big cities of the world was run which produced far-reaching results. He said that millions of people visit zoo for entertainment and observation of animals.
World Environmental Day teaches us lesson to love with this world. The survival of our upcoming generations depends on maintaining natural environment. He said that following the directives of KMC Administrator Syed Hashim Raza Zaidi, zoo administration had taken various important measures for making zoo as an excellent picnic point for citizens.
Electro-light and ice were also being used for minimizing heat for animals in Karachi Zoo so that animals could be protected from heat whereas all cages, greeneries and field were being cleaned and zoo administration was paying special attention to provide birds and animals with natural environment. Exercise of snakes was also being done on daily basis.
A ceremony on completion of three years for elephant pairs was held which was admired by a good number of children and women visiting zoo. Zoo administration renovated historic Mughal Garden with seasonal flowers and plants. Trimming of plants and flowers to maintain their beauty was also being done and spray was being performed to protect plants from germs and insects as well.
